This may sound like I am trying to sell you poetry. I don’t care and I hope you buy it. If you were to watch poetry in a movie there would be a dark lit cafe with people snapping their fingers. I love poetry and I have never been in that position, (not that I wouldn’t go to that, it sounds awesome.) Poetry doesn’t stay hidden behind the walls of some place with brick walls and overpriced coffee. Poetry is found everywhere. Poetry is found outside, inside, with people who have found a way, with people who need to find their way, and even in people who have experienced darkness. Poetry doesn’t care if you are black, white, female, male, straight, gay, or have mental health issues. This poem is sure to pull at your heart strings. I am sharing this poem only because I think every person should hear it.
